This policy explains how Snappy Shopper Ltd ("we", "us", "our") collects and uses your personal information when you use the Snappy Driver app as an authorised delivery driver, and the rights you have.
It covers you as a driver. For how we handle the personal information of customers who place orders, please see the main Snappy Shopper privacy policy.
1. What we do with your information
When you sign in to Snappy Driver and work a shift, we collect and use:
- Your account details — your name and the email address you sign in with.
- Your device's location — your precise location while you are on shift, including in the background (see section 2).
- Device information — a device identifier and a push-notification token, so we can register your device and alert you about orders, plus basic details such as your device model and operating-system version.
- Diagnostics — crash and error information that helps us keep the app reliable.
We use this information to let you sign in, assign you deliveries, share your delivery progress, send you notifications about orders, and to operate, support and improve the app.
2. Your location — and how it is shared with customers
While you are on shift, the app uses your device's precise location, including in the background, so it can keep sharing your progress even when the app isn't open.
Your live location is shared with the store you are delivering for and is made visible to the customer receiving the order (the order recipient). This lets them follow your delivery on a map, see when you are approaching, and get an accurate arrival estimate. We also use your location to assign you nearby orders.
You are in control:
- Your location is only collected while you are on shift. When you end your shift, the app stops collecting and sharing it.
- Your device shows an indicator whenever your location is being used.
- You can change or withdraw the location permission at any time in your device's settings — although the app cannot share your delivery progress, and may not work fully, without it.
We keep location data only for as long as necessary for delivery and related operational purposes.
3. Consent
We ask for the permissions the app needs — location, notifications and camera — through your device's own system prompts, and you choose what to allow. By signing in and going on shift, you agree to your live location being shared with the store and the order recipient as described in section 2. You can withdraw your consent at any time by ending your shift, changing the app's permissions in your device settings, or signing out.
4. Information you record during deliveries
To complete some deliveries you may record proof of delivery — for example a customer's signature, or confirmation that a customer meets the minimum age for age-restricted items (such as alcohol). This information is about the customer and is collected on behalf of the store to fulfil and provide evidence of the order. It is handled under the main Snappy Shopper privacy policy.
5. Disclosure
We share your personal information only where it is needed to run the delivery service — for example, sharing your live delivery progress with the relevant store and customer as described above — or where we are required to do so by law, or to enforce our terms and conditions.
6. Hosting and third-party services
Our services run on secure servers behind a firewall. We use a small number of trusted third parties to provide the app, including Apple's Push Notification service to deliver notifications on iOS and a diagnostics provider (Bugfender) to help us diagnose and fix problems; on Android, Google services are used to deliver notifications and configuration. These providers process data only as needed to provide their service to us. Some may process data outside the UK; where they do, we take steps to ensure your information remains appropriately protected.
The Snappy Driver app does not take card payments. Where you collect cash on delivery, the app records the cash amounts so that you and the store can reconcile takings.
7. Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit (SSL/TLS), and store your sign-in credentials and tokens securely in your device's keychain/keystore. While no method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, we work to protect your personal information using appropriate measures.
8. Age
Snappy Driver is intended for authorised delivery drivers only and is not directed at children. By using the app you confirm that you are old enough to work as a delivery driver where you live (at least 18 years of age).
9. Your rights
You have rights over your personal information, including the right to access it, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to or restrict certain uses of it. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below.
If you live in the UK and are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
10. Changes to this privacy policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to make you aware of them, for example within the app or on this page.
